School Introduction

The Kyoto Minsai Japanese Language School, located in a historic area 10 minutes from the center of Kyoto city, is a cultural center with a lot of international students and Japanese people studying here as well as in the surrounding area which includes the Kyoto language college-university, Kyoto Women's University, some elementary schools, and the Nishikyogoku General Exercise Park. The staff and teachers have knowledge & expertise in a vast number of fields and are dedicated to quality education. For example, many employees used to be technical construction experts, former national athletes, or are professionals of traditional Kyoto culture and calligraphy, tea ceremony, table tennis, musical instruments, and biology. In addition, the school has reception staff who can speak Chinese, English, Vietnamese and Thai, providing smooth coordination so that students can fully concentrate & enjoy learning.

Enriched activities
The school is located in heart of Kyoto’s cultural cooridor, where many festivals are held all year round, providing a perfect opportunity for students to participate in such famous festivals as the Aoi Matsuri, Gion Matsuri, Gozan no Okuribi, Jidai Matsuri, and Arashiyama Flower Festival. In addition, students can participate in tours of various temples & shrines where they can experience Japanese tea, and join other activities that only be enjoyed in Kyoto, which has the largest number of temples in all of Japan. The school also actively organizes many activities for students to learn about various aspects of traditional Japanese culture.
Supporting academic life
Introduction sessions are held regularly, providing students with useful and essential information about a number of post-secondary institutions. Every year, more than 90% of students transfer to professional schools, colleges and universities. The school can also arrange accommodation for all students attending the school, so students can be assured of a comfortable & secure place to stay while studying abroad in Japan. The staff of the school are culturally sensitive and understand the various challenges that international students face when in Japan and conscientiously consult students to ensure a comfortable and happy experience.
Support for Employment

The school is affiliated with local hotels and can introduce students interested in working there. This is especially attractive for students on a working holiday visa as they are able to take advantage of working while learning Japanese. The school has also introduced many other jobs opportunities in the area around the school to its students.

Tenjingawa School

Tenjingawa is the location of the main school of Kyoto Minsai Japanese Language School and this is where the long-term courses take place. The school is located on the banks of the Tenjin River where you can see the sakura blossoms in spring, and near the Nishikyogoku Athletic Park, another nice place for hanami, sports, or relaxing with your classmates after class. Nearest stations: Nishikyogoku station (12-minutes walk) Tenjingawa station RANDEN (20-minutes walk)

Nishioji School

Nishioji-school is where the short-term courses are taught. This is a pleasant and convenient area with a supermarket, drugstore or a bookstore nearby and accessible by not less than 3 subway stations. Long-term Course (Tenjingawa)

Course Description

Academic course: The Academic courses are designed for students who wish to achieve higher education by enrolling in graduate, vocational schools or universities. Every student will have to choose specialized courses to follow their own individual path. Additionally, they will be rigorously prepared for JLPT exams while being deeply immersed into Japanese culture with all the activities the school has to offer.

 

Integrated-studies course: The Integrated-studies course is designed for those who want to find a job related to Japan or to experiment a deep study of Japanese culture.The mandatory specialized course will guide the student to perform at their highest level in their future achievement and the extra activities will allow them to get deeply in touch with Japanese culture and traditions.

Short-term Course (Nishioji)

Course Description

10-week course:

The longest of the Kyoto Minsai short term courses is perfect if you want to learn Japanese more meticulously.

  8-week course:

Study thoroughly and enjoy all that Kyoto has to offer by immersing yourself in Japanese culture in this 8-week course.

  4-week course:

Learn the fundamentals of the Japanese language in reading, writing or holding a conversation with this 4-week program.

  2-week course:

With this 2-week program, you would be able to enhance your Japanese skills or learn the basics of the language in no time while enjoying your stay in Kyoto.
