The Communica Institute does not only teach Japanese language but also cross cultural studies, because everyone’s acting and way of thinking is influenced by their culture. Therefore, students are learning and exchanging culture and values at this school besides their Japanese language studies. The Institute is located in the foreign settlement of Kobe. This area is influenced by western lifestyles through its famous port that allows international trade and exchange since its opening. This led to the unique Kobe culture we can experience today. Kobe is a great place to live for foreigners because of its interesting history and its location right next to the sea offering a natural environment.

8 Step System

The school offers classes in various Japanese levels to suit the students needs and students can even choose different levels for each subject. These 8 steps are:

Step 8-7: Elementary Japanese
Step 6-5: Lower Intermediate Japanese
Step 4-3: Upper Intermediate Japanese
Step 2-1: Advanced Japanese

Electives for students with intermediate Japanese skills
Students that have reached the intermediate level are able to choose electives such as Business Japanese, higher education and Japanese Language Proficiency Test preparatory classes.
Cross-Cultural Studies
Cross-cultural studies help students to understand the country and people they are interacting with.

The nearest station is called Hanshin Sannomiya and is located near the famous Flower Road and the Sannomiya Center-gai shopping street.

Long Term

This course is designed for students with a student visa. They can study from 6 months up to 2 years in this course. The class contents are introduced through the 8-Step teaching plan with different levels.

Step 8-7 Elementary Japanese: This step is designed for students that are beginners of the Japanese language and would like to learn general Japanese. This step targets N5~N4.  

Step 6-5 Lower Intermediate Japanese: This step is for students that already know basic Japanese and can choose to begin learning Business Japanese. This step targets N3~N2.  

Step 4-3 Upper Intermediate Japanese: In step 4-3 students with lower intermediate Japanese knowledge can learn the basics of Business Japanese. Furthermore, students can choose university and college preparatory classes. This step targets N2.  

Step 2-1 Advanced Japanese: This step is designed for students with upper intermediate Japanese skills that wish to learn practical Business Japanese. It also offers university and college preparatory classes. This step targets N1.
