ARC Academy was established in 1986, originally for foreign business people wishing to learn Japanese. The meaning of “ARC” is “bridge to the world.” Ever since, the range of students has expanded from business people to foreign students, researchers, embassy officials, language teachers, trainees and long-term residents. Nowadays students from over fifty countries are studying together at ARC Academy.
Arc Academy has 3 Japanese Language school campuses, 2 in Tokyo, and 1 in Kyoto, with around 670 international students from 50 different countries.
As a group of professionals in the Japanese Language education field, ARC Academy staff conducts ongoing study of the most appropriate programs and lesson materials from the perspective of their students, in order to respond as best as possible to the changes in the world and the needs that come with it. And in order to cultivate communication skills and “the ability to think, ARC Academy approaches many different topics, such as society, culture and territory through their enriched classroom activities.

ARC offers specialized private lessons for students with special needs or who want a flexible schedule. The teachers will arrange an individual curriculum for the student according to their goals and Japanese language level, and lessons are available off-site.

This course prepares you for various scenes in daily life and academic and business situations. It has a strong focus on developing communication skills through classroom activities and classwork. Students in this course will be evaluated and receive feedback based on a robust curriculum and assessment criteria. Details of coursework include: pronunciation, listening and reading comprehension, conversation, writing, understanding current events in Japan, and many more.
Students will enrol in a class according to their level of Japanese language achievement and study with peers for terms of 3 months each.

This course is for students wishing to enter a Japanese university. The entrance requirements for this class are demanding and the class size is kept small, because it aims to foster academic skills as well as focus on individual students to provide personal feedback on interviews and essays. Students will have individualized curricula to reach their goals and academic path / career development sessions to guide them to a wider range of opportunities.
The course runs through the whole Japanese academic year, allowing students to take EJU twice and apply to both private and national / public universities.
Students in this course can have mock exams and interviews to help them prepare for competitive university entrance exams.
This course is specially designed for students wishing to enter a graduate school in Japan. The personalized curriculum helps students prepare academic Japanese, skills for making research plans and collecting data for dissertation. Students will also prepare for entrance examinations, including oral and written presentations. After entrance exams, they will also prepare for their graduate programs by practicing presentations and written reports.

The course is for students wishing to work in Japan or in a Japanese company. The first 3 months focuses on skills to find jobs in Japan, including resume writing skills, interview manners and basic e-mail writing, as well as analyzing companies in Japan to understand business situations. The second 3 months focus on practical training to prepare for business scenes. This includes business conversations, making documents, developing presentation skills and acquiring business manners.
Students will register for job searching databases, which allows them to look for jobs while learning in the course. Students will also prepare for exams and job interviews with their peers and teachers on a regular basis.
Students will receive advice from teachers with experience and support regarding internship opportunities, and attend business-related seminars and subjects.

This intensive yet exciting summer school takes place in the bustling centre of Shinjuku. It combines Japanese language classes with sightseeing and cultural experience. Students will be placed in classes according to their Japanese language skills, and with their peers, they will build up their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Students will have opportunities to go on excursions on weekends with the school staff, such as visiting trending museums or going to the maid cafes, having that unique Japanese subcultural experience, as well as trying traditional culture such as tea ceremonies.
