School Introduction

Founded in 1989, the Hiroshima YMCA College of Foreign Languages offers Japanese language courses enriched with cultural learning. Part of the Hiroshima YMCA, a community education leader since 1938, the college provides personalized guidance and skill-focused training for international students. With experienced faculty and flexible course durations, it’s an excellent choice for mastering Japanese and exploring its culture.

Short Term Programs Only

Standard Course - Short Term

Course Description

The Standard Course is designed for students of any Japanese level.

The focus is on practical Japanese during the 15 lessons you can take each week. Activities and local events are also offered. You can take 6 additional private lessons every week. The minimum duration for this course is 1 week and the maximum duration is 12 weeks.

Course Description

The Standard Course with Internship offers not only language classes, but gives students the opportunity to conduct an internship throughout this program.

Therefore, students will have language learning and practical work experience. During the internship, students will also get to know more about the Japanese business environment.

Culture Course - Short Term

Course Description

The Culture Course is designed for students of any Japanese level and the maximum course length is 2 weeks.

Students will experience several cultural activities such as tea ceremonies, calligraphy or visiting shrines.

 

This course will not be held when the Seasonal Courses take place.

Seasonal Courses - Short Term

Course Description

In the Seasonal Course, students will be able to experience cultural and seasonal activities, depending on the season they choose.

 

During the winter course, students can enjoy the snowy Sapporo, while they can see the beautiful cherry blossoms during the spring course. The summer course offers two different programs with different intake dates. In the first program students will visit a manga and anime festival, while students that choose the second program, will visit stunning lavender fields. Students can participate in both summer programs if they wish. During the autumn program students see the red and yellow autumn leaves.
